Sunday Snapshot...togetherness

We're home from our long-awaited week at the beach. It was a grand time. We did a whole lot of nothing and spent precious time together as a family. And this serene photo is one of my favorites. On our last night there, we did what we always do...we tried to cram in a little bit of everything...one last dip in the pool, one last night of games, one last bike ride, and, of course, one last walk on the beach.

Every other evening walk on the beach had pretty much been in the pitch black. The first night it was so dark that one of the kids in our group stumbled through a tide pool and landed smack on her face. But this last night...it was one of those moments that just takes your breath away. The moon was full, creating a gorgeous glow over the water.

In a moment of inspiration, I propped my camera up on a lifeguard tower and sent the kids down to the water, hoping to get a shot that would capture a little of the magic of being together at the beach . I would love to have spent a little more time getting exactly the right exposure and a little sharper of an image. But I happen to love this particular image, mostly because of the story it doesn't tell. It's the only one of the bunch that isn't blurred by my lovely children pushing and shoving and generally irritating the snot out of each other.

It could not be a more beautiful picture. And you're right - the story it doesn't tell makes it all the more special....

Thanks again for coming out of your way to visit on your way home. It was so wonderful to see you guys. Tonight Kylie said she wanted to thank Jesus for Caroline.

Yep, you did it- you got a GREAT shot. I couldn't help but sit here and wonder what was going on in each of their minds at that exact moment. Hmmmmm.
