We woke up to steady snow coming down this morning. We only got about two or three inches, but the roads were quickly covered, and with a Winter Storm Warning in effect, we shot into high gear to get our stuff done for the day. Jon and I ran to the mall to pick up a couple of Christmas gifts I need to get ready to mail. Then we went to the grocery to get a few essentials...JUNK FOOD...and diapers, milk, etc... By the time we got home, the first blast had come to an end, and we decided to go with our neighbors BACK to the mall to see the movie, "Alvin and the Chipmunks". I loved "The Chipmunks" as a child, so I was easily entertained by the movie! The kids loved it, too! Even Jon, who deplores my annual playing of my Chipmunks Christmas cd, laughed out loud several times! The best part was that it was good, clean fun...not much, if any, adult innuendo.
After the movie, we headed home. The second blast of the winter storm was beginning, so we dodged the sleet and freezing rain, stopped at Blockbuster for another movie, stopped at our local Mexican restaurant for takeout bean dip and salsa and made a beeline for the house. The sleet/rain/freezing rain didn't stop the kids from wanting to go out and play IN THE DARK! Even Jon and our neighbor, Fred, joined them in the fun after doing a quick sweep of the driveways and sidewalks. They were out there for the better part of two hours! I ran out long enough to take a few pictures, but that was it for me.
When they were sufficiently frozen, we traded kids for the night. Mickey had a sleepover at Regan's, and Kennedi spent the night here. We spent the rest of the evening doing laundry, watching "Hairspray" and indulging in our yummy Mexican treats! Well, Jon and Mickey had spaghetti. After Caroline mooched off of Jon's plate, she laid eyes on the bean dip and sidled over for some of it! I'm telling you...if I hadn't flown halfway around the world to get her, I would find it difficult to believe that she doesn't have some Hispanic blood in her. Much to my delight, the girl LOVES Mexican food! Well, it's delightful to a point...I don't always want to share!

We're holed up now for the duration of the storm. We're supposed to get up to eight more inches of snow overnight, and then winds are supposed to kick in, creating blizzard-like conditions by morning. The kids are VERY excited, especially since they missed out on the big storm back in February, when we were in China!
The guys helped Mickey and Regan build a gigantic snowman in our front yard. I think they used all three inches of snow that were IN my front yard! Mickey was put out with me because all we have are baby carrots in the fridge...not a very good nose for such an impressive snowman!
I think this guy needs to work out a little...
what wimpy arms for such a big guy...
A twig for a nose will have to do...
Regan and Mickey with their snowman...
Check out the next three posts for more pictures from today...

I am jealous of all the snow! Maggie and Caroline must have been hanging out in LJ together, discussing all the Mexican food they were going to eat when they finally got to the US, because Maggie loves her some enchiladas and salsa!
Wow, what a great snowman!!! I'm jealous of the snow, maybe you guys could send some our way? Hope you all are enjoying some family time stuck in the house together. By the way, what does sweet little Caroline think of snow?
Miss you guys!
