Shot to the heart...

Whew! What a day...things are occasionally hectic at work, but lately they seem to be crazy every day! To add to the craziness, I had to leave work in the middle of the day to take Caroline to the doctor for her two-year-old well-child appointment. Funny thing...I put her down when it was time to check in, and I noticed she didn't follow me.

I said, "Caroline, come here, honey."

She said, "Noooooo....HOME!"

She dug her heels in like a mule, that girl! She stood there by the door the entire time it took to check in and pay my co-pay, and I had to pick her up and carry her to the waiting area...where she repeatedly demanded, "HOME! No, Mommy! HOME!"

Her complaints became louder as we were called back to the exam room and I undressed her for her weigh-in. She was NOT a happy camper! She did stand on the scale, and with her t-shirt on, she weighed 23.8 pounds. She measured 33" tall, so that means she's gained three pounds and grown 3 1/2" in the last year! Of course, that includes her weight loss last spring, when her weight dropped to 19 pounds.

Poor Dr. H...she's tried so hard to befriend Caroline...to absolutely no avail. The minute she walks into the room, Caroline starts looking for an escape route. Those ear exams are just pure torture for her, and she fights it like a wet cat. So Caroline is working herself into an emotionally overwrought state as the nurse walks in with THREE SHOTS! Oh, my...I felt so bad having to help hold her down for for those shots. She cried all through getting dressed again, all through getting her coat and hat on, all the way to the van (playing on the sympathies of everyone in the waiting room, of course) and all the way back to church. I thought she might play the "mommy" card and refuse to go back to the nursery, but her face lit up when she saw Heather, her caregiver, and she was fine and dandy after that.

After school, I forgot to give her some Motrin before nap, so she was a mess when she woke up. She refused to walk and pointed to her legs, crying, "OWIE! Huht...yeg!" It was pitiful and hilarious, all at the same time. So I grabbed the camera..

Daddy brought home a chocolate shake...

a momentary distraction...

And then she got up...

Daddy took off her band-aids and gave those boo-boos a kiss...

And then the Motrin kicked in...

Did I tell you how much I love Motrin?

Looks like Caroline has the same dramatic streak that Maggie has. Maggie always forgets about the shots after a while but then WAILS when she sees the bandaids!

23.8 pounds? She's gonna have to put on some if she wants to play in the ring with my 30 pound girl this summer! I'm laughing as I see how baggy that onesie is on her, I just put Kylie's (same size I believe) away in the "clothes that I loved and must keep for baby #2" stash.
I'll be dragging Kylie in for her 2 year early in March. We're not looking forward to the shots either ~ she fights them, HARD!
Love you guys!
