When camels fly...

So we unpacked the advent calendar a little late this year...no comments, please. It's a lovely little calendar that, piece by piece, tells the story of Christmas. It begins with shepherds and angels at the beginning of the month and ends with baby Jesus in the manger and the Star of Bethlehem hanging atop the stable. It came with a guide to tell us what to hang where and in what order. And for each day, there was a Bible verse to help tell the story. And...wait, I bet you'll never guess! Yep, it's lost somewhere in our house. If I remember right, it got shoved in a drawer at our old house and shoved in a box when we moved. I believe I've seen it once since then, but who knows where it is. And so we make it up as we go.

Abby started to lay all the pieces out and reconstruct the story. Then, I think, the phone rang, and she left her project unattended. Caroline pounced on the opportunity to take over and quietly sat there, putting all 24 pieces on. It was sweet and savvy and hilarious, all at the same time. I present to you....the Story of Christmas...Caroline's version...

Well, pigs fly...why can't camels?

And Jesus, obviously...

While I'm at it, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. The tree, as I mentioned before, is groaning from the weight of all of our ornaments. I'm planning on taking a picture of it on manual exposure. Here are some photos from our first...yes, I said first...night of tree decorating. It's a process, people...as is everything in my life!

Let me know what you think...
Pictures of Jon and Mickey under the tree...they're trying to adjust the tilt of the Christmas tree...have no idea why, but it tilts just a smidge and drives me crazy!!

Although I'm still mourning the loss of my memory card, I did find the video camera...did I confess that was missing? AND I found the DVD remote...oh, did I leave that out, too? So I'm feeling like maybe I haven't lost my mind, after all.

Now I'm off to finish all the crazy things that need to be done before tomorrow...last day of school...gifts for the kids' teachers...staff Christmas party at my house...
