Okay, I give up...

DSC_1360e

With just two years left before my oldest graduates from high school, I must admit that I've spent every moment possible this summer just being with my kids. Which has led, once again, to the summertime demise of my blog. But I'd rather make an abundance of memories and work on catching up later than miss some of those memories trying to keep up. So I'm forging ahead. Back to "live" blogging. I'll continue to work on sharing this summer's happenings as I find time (stop laughing). Hey, you might even get some more pictures from LAST summer. I'll fill you in as I post, and you can go back and check them out.

And that brings me to the first day of school. I can't even tell you how much it pains me to write that. I love summer. I love the freedom from schedule the drudgery, of waking up early. Every. stinking. day. And as much as I love a good snow, I already dread the biting winds of winter. Monday was declared Fun Day Monday...our last summer hurrah. I ignored school supply lists and piles of laundry and let everybody sleep in from our long weekend (more on that later). Jon even surprised us by taking a vacation day at the last minute. We hit Taco Bell for lunch and drove straight back to the pool for a picnic and a relaxing afternoon.

I wish my behind looked that cute in a suit...

When they'd had enough sun, we headed inside to watch Seventeen Again. The girls and I went to see it earlier this summer, and we thought it was hilarious. After the movie, we made a disastrous mess of the kitchen with homemade pizzas. And then it was time to face reality and get the backpacks ready and write lunch checks. They were off to bed, and, all too soon, Tuesday morning arrived and my three oldest were out the door. I'll share the morning's exodus another day. For now, I'll leave you with summer's last splash.

I'm so bummed that we didn't make it up to swim with you guys this summer. Kylie is making progress in her bravery, but she could stand to take a few lessons from Caroline when it comes to swimming.
Love that your big kids (including Jon) had such a good last day of summer.

I too am sad that summer is coming to an end. I was off all last week with the kids. We've stayed up late and slept late. I'm off tomorrow too and then school begins on Tuesday. My youngest enters kindergarten this year. {sigh}

Love the pool pictures. Looks like to much fun.
