Picture of the day...

I'm so completely behind on blogging that I feel like I'm skipping ahead twelve chapters in a book to document our trip this past weekend to AWAA's National Reunion in Washington, DC. But I know there are a few people who just might be waiting to see some of my photos, and I know there are a few of their photos I'd like to see. Life is literally a blur right now. We're deep into marching band season, and we have two kids in it this year. Mindy resprained her ankle and has been marching on it. Abby's had the flu. I can't get my laundry done to save my life, my living room has morphed into a play room, and the daily flow of paper into my house has threatened to take it over. Waiting until I catch up to blog is no longer an option. So my theory is that something is better than nothing, right?

The reunion festivities kicked off Saturday morning with a wedding ceremony for Amy and Lineker, two of AWAA's beloved guides from China. They have blessed hundreds of families, including ours, by leading them lovingly and knowledgeably through the process in country, working their magic and making the experience more like a vacation than a legal proceeding.

As we arrived at the wedding, each adopted child was handed a rose to give to Amy as she walked down the aisle. There were a few moments when I thought some of those roses might not survive the sword fights that ensued. The wedding planner even commented that a church full of children was, until now, her worst nightmare! The rest of us seemed completely nonplussed, though. Sword fights and all, it was a joyous atmosphere of celebration. To think of the hundreds of other children not present whose lives have been touched by Amy and Lineker...

So here's one of my favorite photos of the day...decidedly not one of my best photos...but I love the story it tells. We were trying to get at least a few of the girls to pose for a picture, and Caleb decided he wanted to be a part of the photo, too. I was shooting without flash, so it's a little blurry. I've figured out rather quickly that it's a fairly large challenge to get a picture of Caleb that doesn't have a little blur to it. But trust me...he's as cute as he is fast!

Plenty more to come...wedding photos, arctic picnic photos, pizza party photos, DC sightseeing...

I love every photo of Caleb... even the blurry ones. Can't wait to hear more about the reunion. We would have loved to attend if not for the 2/3 of the USA that stands between us and DC.

Yep, you see that little blocking move he has going on against his sister there?
I'll get you some of my best shots ASAP ~ of course the quality doesn't stand up to yours...
So, so glad to have spent the weekend with you guys!
