Tonight we started baking cookies for Santa. I have been so overwhelmed with various projects and trying to finish shopping for Christmas that I haven't had much of a chance to get started on cookies. Thankfully, Mindy made the cookie dough for the sugar cookies...a treasured recipe handed down from my mom...and a batch of gingerbread cookies ahead of time, so this evening we got down to business. I think the pictures speak for themselves. The kids had a great time, and it didn't take long for flour to be absolutely everywhere! Abby dug out one of the Christmas aprons that Grandma Dotty made for the girls when they were little, although by that time, Caroline was already coated in flour! By the end of the night, she had flour on the BACK of her apron! We didn't quite get to the decorating part...we'll have to do that tomorrow. By the time we finished baking and hosing down the kitchen, it was time for bed for Miss Caroline and, finally, time to relax with a movie for the rest of us. We've had far too little down time around here lately, and I am looking forward to some lazy days over the winter break.

Oh that looks like such fun! We didn't get to make cookies this year because of many extra hours down at church in the week leading up to Christmas to help move into our new sanctuary. We'll just have to make Chinese New Year cookies or something...

Wish we could have come over to bake with you!

Love from the sunny south!
