Not quite a month ago, we experienced the first earthquake in my memory. Yesterday, China's Sichuan Province was devastated by a quake that, according to our local paper, was more than 100 times stronger than ours. That is a sobering thought, considering the quake here was the talk of the town, and, thankfully, absent of tragedy. There are thousands dead, and beyond the missing, the displaced and the injured, there are most certainly children who are now orphans in the midst of great tragedy. My heart aches for them. In our humanness, it is impossible to make sense of an event such as this. We have to trust that our God, our Father, is in control of even this, and that He works all things together for the good of those who love Him. Please pray.

The latest death toll is estimated to be at least 10,000...

I'm praying, reading, praying more, and longing to go to the birth country of my child to offer help in any way I can...
