The house that Mick built...

Okay, I know I promised to blog about our Christmas trip, but I'm having a hard time going forward without going back first. For those of you who don't get a lot of snow, let me give you and your sons a little encouragement. If you draft your little sister and use your sled and snow shovel to scrape and collect even minuscule amounts of snow off your yard...and your neighbor's yard...and the driveway...and the street...and the sidewalk...then you, too, can have your very own igloo.

I'm dead serious when I tell you this son of mine left two yards completely bare and had this puppy more than halfway done after our first measly one inch of snow.

Which made it a lot easier to finish when we got some real snow.

p.s. He had every intention of sleeping in his igloo and even had a candle burning in it (wish I'd taken the time to get that shot) one night...until his sister ditched him in favor of cup of hot chocolate and a blanket by the fireplace. Because, of course, it's no fun to freeze to death in your sleep alone.

p.s.s. These photos were taken before Christmas, during our very snowy December. Mick stayed outside in the snow for hours at a time until I made him come in. As every season comes and goes, I still find it difficult to decide what he loves most about the outdoors.

I've said it before. I'll say it again. I 'heart' Mickey and his determination!
